Shadows of the patterns?

Everything on our earth has its own shadow, and it, its forms, depends on both the angle of the sun’s fall and the cloudiness of the weather, and so on. So I thought, why the patterns couldn’t have their own shadows? Well, we just could imagine it. On the photo is an example of a “shadow.” It does not have to be triangles, it can be other shapes, or just a line on the right, where a shadow is, can be just thicker than the line that is on the left.
p.s. In the case of a shadow carving, the rule of motion and the position of a shadow is the same as in scumbling / wash drawing of patterns. The light on patterns falls from top left.
It would be interesting to know, what do you think of my idea of the patterns shadows? Do you like how it looks or not as much?

I think it’s an interesting exercise. It’s hard to know what direction this will take your work from the small example above. So much of the beauty of the intricacies of your work is the symmetry of your designs. Will this approach necessitate more asymmetrical designs? Also, the peaks and valleys of the carvings themselves cast their own shadows. It’ll be a challenge to figure out which patterns work best with this idea you have.

Looking forward to seeing what you create next!

I’m also looking forward to seeing how your idea develops. It does sound interesting.
