Hello,
my name is Gordon Falconer. I was born in Ayrshire in Scotland and moved to The Netherlands in 1995.
I'm an engineering turner, having served my time with British Aerospace. After years of working in factories I gave up the daily grind to become a musician. A wife and two children later I decided that going back to a 'proper' job was needed. As a mechanical engineer I had a great time working all over Europe and the Middle East but unfortunately I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease and had to give up this career as well.
I'd always fancied a go at wood turning and as my father is a carpenter to trade, I've kind of worked with wood on and off most of my life, so I bought a lathe and had a go !!
I play the Bodhran (Irish frame drum) so decided to make some tippers (the single stick used for playing). About 5 years ago I'd said to an Irish friend of mine Brendan White who makes handmade Bodhrans here in The Netherlands, that I reckoned could make decent tippers - it took a while but I got round to it. Two weeks after I got my lathe I visited Brendan to let him have a look at my work. Much to my relief he loved them and said they were among the best he'd seen in his 30 years of Bodhran playing and making - that made my day !!!
And here we are....I started Falconwood in August 2010, so I'm back where I started all those years ago. Only now, instead of turning metal I'm turning wood, and loving every minute of it !
Gordon

Hi Gordon,
About your comment on my profile, looking back the comparison/review i had done was not optimal.
Indeed i did not like the RO125, but meanwhile i have bought an ETS150 and RO 150, and those were better than the bosch by far, so i sold it. I was comparing apples to pears, the RO’s are terrible all round sanders i still think, but comparing the Bosch to the ETS150 is better, and there Festool has a clear edge.
Have your say...
