Location: Milwaukee

I have been a retirement plan administrator for a large bank in the Milwaukee area for 18 years. I am new to wordworking with my only experience being making simple shelving units etc. I have been watching New Yankee Workshop, and Wood Works religiously for the past few years but until now haven't had the space in my home to pursue the hobby. My lovely fiancee was nice enough to hook me up with a router table set up for x-mas, so I am eager to let the dust fly. I went to the woodworking show in Milwaukee in February and felt like a kid in a candy store. I look forward to learning more about woodworking.

Welcome to Lumberjocks. The projects are an inspiration, the information is priceless and the people are supportive. The only problem is, the site can get addictive.

God Bless

Welcome Ezra. You have found the right place for woodworking. A great group of people willing to help. Where do you have your router set-up? Looking forward to see some projects from the router.

Thanks for the kind welcome. I have been lurking for a few months, and finally decided to join. I stumbled upon this site surfing the internet looking at table saw reviews. I can’t believe the projects section of this board. Some very talented people. :) I hope I can progress to the point where I can add a few pictures of my own.

Ezra, on my kitchens I purchace rough cut lumber for a lumber yard. You’ll need a few things to work with it though:
Jointer, Thickness planer, and a 60 tooth or better table saw blade

For my first kitchen I used knotty alder with quarter inch birtch veneer ply.
I’d recommend getting a kreg jig for pockets.
I’m just a beginner but this is what I’d recommend.

Good luck! It’s a lot of work but so worth it.

Another LJ from Wisconsin! Planning to attend the woodworking show at the State Park the first week in February. Don’t know which day I’m going yet. Maybe I’ll see you there.
