I am a writer also and have found out that writing about yourself is not an easy thing to do.
I have always been an artist of one form or another in different mediums. I still do a lot of drawing and photography but working with wood is my true love. Unfortunately I do have a regular job that takes me out of the shop for 8 hours a day dammit.
I had never been on a lathe so I took a class at Woodcraft. I fell in love! I came out of the classroom and bought a Mini lathe, full set of gouges, scrappers, roughers, all of it.
A year with the small lathe and knew I would not be happy till I had a bigger one so now I have a monster lathe and a new precision table saw and new plainer and. . .and . . and. . .
My girlfriends all talk about the jewelry or clothes they got for Christmas when they ask me and I start rattling off the specs for my new table saw I get some funny looks. I have more money tied up in nice lumber and turning blanks than I do in my entire wardrobe, jewelry included..lol Who needs diamonds and gold unless they come in inlay form!

By the way, the work you’ve posted is superb.

I’m glad you were inspired! I read your profile and you are a unique individual such as I. I also draw, landscape oil paint, carve, metalwork, weld, sculpt, etc, etc… I also taught my daughter to draw at about 7 or 8, Now she is 14 and never ceases to impress me with her new creations. I love the sea, and everything nautical. I go apeshit over cool wood work I see when we go to different beaches. I am looking forward to going to Key West, FLA. in April to get some Carribean wood working and art inspiration, and to sample a few tankards of fine ale! RRR!
