I stopped in at the “local” Woodcraft this afternoon (the “Pittsburgh” location is about twenty miles outside the city) and noticed this item for sale.

Now, I am not going to criticize any individual for having the occasional spelling error, but companies are fair game. Should be “Extra Coarse”, of course.

You have a keen eye. Those are the footprints of a Millennial. It’s important that you not try to diminish their self-esteem by correcting them. Instead, give them a ribbon for best box design (‘cause spelling is so passe)!!!.

Or you’re making a very expensive wall.

Actually, I’d say it’s the footprints of an older person. Millennials have auto spell/grammer check. Geezers like us are still trying to find the alt key. They also use calculators. I’ve seen one of those, they look very useful.

Calculators? You mean one of the things with beads on wire? Nah, it’ll never catch on. Not going to replace fingers for counting, but I guess it is easier to carry the one!

The English language is a moving target, constantly evolving. If you don’t think so, try reading (re-reading?) some Shakespeare some time. Better yet, read The Canterbury Tales. So spelling and grammar have become unnecessary. We are replacing them with emojis. One day future archeologists will discover a new Rosetta stone with translations between Egyptian hieroglyphs and emojis and all the languages in between will have been lost.
