« Part 3: Cooler Box Supports Part 4 of Cedar Cooler Box series Part 5: Shelf Construction »

Firstly in order to put a shelf for a little storage I need to place shelf supports and I used 1×4 cedar again for this part of the build.

I also decided that it would be more pleasing to the eye if I raised the shelf 3.5” off the ground as well as being a lot more functional and also avoid any unecessary ware and tear on the supports.

The 2 supports were cut to size and I placed 2 pocket holes in each end and then hid the screws by screwing them into the leg L structure.

I used 2 pieces of the 2×4 and placed them as spacers under the supports to achieve uniformed supports and

ultimately a level shelf…
