I used 1/2” MDF for the bottom shelf, I had to do a little work before inserting it into the frame..
Firstly I had to cut 3×5” corners to accomodate the upright (legs)4×2 in the frame so I took my jigsaw to task on this..it was the easiest part of this project so far..
All that was left was to secure the bottom shelf to the frame and I used 1 5/8” screws for that..I only screwed each end and the middle and I also countersunked the screws.
