« Part 3: Base & shelf Part 4 of Router Cabinet Redo series Part 5: Drawer Slides Installed & Router Cavity Walls Made »

The base is basically a piece of 3/4” poplar plywood with a solid oak edge band that is secured with pocket hole screws and glue.

I machined a 3/4” dado 1” up from the bottom of the left, right and back sides and the base just slides in.

Before assembly I still need to position the 4 locking casters and glue and screw the the base and shelf into place.

The upper shelf is the exactly the same piece as the base except I placed to dado 6” from each side to position the upper partition panels that will create the router cavity and simultaneously create two more cavity the left side will house 3 drawers ( probably 1 drawer for bits and the 2 not sure what will be in there but I’m sure I’ll find a use)

The right side will just be a cavity with a solid oak hinged panel that will allow me access to the the wiring for my paddle switch and router cord.
