I am an aspiring woodcrafter, just completed my second year under a master woodworker who is retiring and moving to Florida. As of March 2014 it was time to put up, or shut up, and East Lake Woodcraft in Cuba, NY launched. I specialize in domestic hardwood furniture, with accented texture grains and heart/sap wood contrasts. I also build interior railing systems, custom moldings, and interior finishes (T&G ceilings, wall accents, and flooring).

What I like best about woodworking is the symbiosis of creativity and engineering. When I am in my shop, the zen of crafting drowns out the rest of the world and I find that sense of purpose and belonging in the world. I hear it is difficult making a living in woodworking, and even more so in the depressed area that I live in, but that is just a challenge that gets make me want to expand to newer horizons.

Side hobbies basically include fishing, as I gave up golfing to pursue a more successful woodworking lifestyle.
