This year’s pumpkin carvings and halloween costume.
This is my favorite holiday just for the fun of creativity. Every year I get asked to carve pumpkins for a kids night at a local restaurant Trattoria 225. It is a very fun evening, having children tell me all their creative goals, dreams, and boast of their own prowess in art. Love it! I get to help a few kids, and a few adults, believe that art is not just fun, but important and rewarding. I find it sad how many stories I hear each year of those creative people that “gave up” art because life took them someplace else. Anyway, the restaurant raffled off the pumpkins that same evening, and seeing the kids enjoy the final results was a new one for me this year.

So here are this years creations.. sorry for the bad photography.

And my partner reaps the benefit of my creative talent every year.. this year I was stumped. his company party theme was Hawaii.. for a new client they picked up.. and David really wanted to be a hippie. So since Hawaii became a state late in 1959 and technically the hippie movement started in 1960.. I felt safe with a Hippie Tiki….. Carved out of foam insulation and painted in acrylics… and has back pack straps to wear it.

And just cause I am sharing work that is not really woodwork related… I also took on a painting commission for a wedding gift and I finished it last week…. I am unsure how to frame it. 36”x24” acrylic and graphite.

Thanks for looking at my stuff.

Sounds like you and the kids had a great time. Maybe some of them will now want to try their hand at woodcarving?
Great idea.

Nice work! When I look at the painting, I see a rather large frame – it is an image of a big space and it could use a big frame.
