So I torched the slats in an attempt to make it look more rustic. Sanded them down to 320 grit. I found the poplar sort of burns blotchy or I’m just not too good at it yet. Had Hoe Depot mix up some blue and red stain for me. ($32) Also picked up oil based spa urethane high gloss (expensive.. but I told worth it.)
I was able to get the union marked and taped and stained the red stripes! I think it came out pretty good. Cant wait to lay out the star stickers for the union. to be continued….
