Amazing Day at the Salvage Store 26FEB2016
So after talking to the owner of the salvage store for a little while he let me go down and pick the basement where all of the items from his estate buy outs go before they put them on the sales floor. I was floored with the amount of stuff that he had down there. Picture a room the size of a football field filled with boxes, trunks, shelves and crates FILLED with amazing stuff. I picked for about 2 hours and found everything we like from vintage, rare Stanley #18 Sweetheart plane, a Stanley 60 1/2, a nice old Bailey #4 all rosewood, to Antique Disston and Sons Tenon saws to a vintage Case XX hunting knife. I got a vintage Stanley double marking gauge, folding rules, 8 or 9 planes, Millers Falls coping saws, a bunch of modern and vintage clamps, really to much to list! It was an awesome day. Check out the pictures and I'll tell you what it cost me.
I got everything pictured for $90. Yes $90. Not even $100. $90. I think one of the planes is worth $90.
Yeah that's pretty awesome right?!!! But of course there is always a twist to my purchases. There were 2 catalytic converters in one of the tool boxes and the owner said "Get them out of here" so of course I did. Wait until you hear this! Look at the brand car they came off of:
Can you see it in the second pic? Frigging FERRARI catalytic converters!! I almost XXXX myself when I saw that! Anyway I drive straight to my buddy who is a metal salvage/auto parts guy and he gave me $135 each for the cats….... Not only did I get over $1500 worth of tools, I got $270 in cash back in my pocket!!! What a day, what a day. Needless to say I'll be back over there the next day I have some time, I didn't even get through 10% of the boxes. Anyone want to go shopping with me?
