These are the two photos I was trying to find in the photos I mentioned in my previous post. I could have saved these for safety week. As I said these photos were usually taken for a reason. You can see in the lower photo that the two men are doing something that looks inherently dangerous, probably demonstrating what happened. The guy on the right is missing his ring finger!

Come on…. doesn’t everyone plunge cut on a table saw just like that occasionally?

I don’t see any dangers here, except the missing riving knife.. great pics!

looks to me as if the saw-blade is stationary.
Perhaps they are setting up blade height/rip fence before they
fire up ”The Beast” and make some dust.
Of which I think there would be plenty.
Cheers, Jinky (James).

Back in the day, these guys were bullet proof … note the eye protection, hearing protection, etc. not to mention the loose clothes to catch … but there is a safety screen at the spinning motor pulleys …

I think guy #2 is divorced, the missing ring finger is on the left hand.

And we all know that sawdust on a wood floor is not slippery, so no need for mats around that man eating saw.

Thanks for these eye opening photos Dave, we all need reminders now and them to keep us thinking of safety.
