« Part 5: First turning project completed Part 6 of Woodturning series no next part

Still waiting on lathe tools that I ordered that are back ordered. Should arrive first week of April.
With limited tools still, I decided to make this mallet from left over oak.

Overall it is kind of a rough piece. Just started turning and still improving.

Turning it was no problem. I drilled the hole for handle before turning the head.
Did it by hand instead of the drill press. The head is slightly off center. Should have used the drill press.
Added leather pieces on each side. Used a shellac/BLO/DNA for finish.

Still usable and I’ve already used it on multiple occasions at the lathe.

Looks good! Keep practicing, & you’ll be less judgmental of your work, & more confident of your skills!
