My wife is a member of the local Hand Weaver Guild and they planed a meeting at Peter “Pekka” Olson’s home. So I tagged along. Here are some photos:
(1) Pekka carving a fan bird:
It was carved from green riven cedar.
(2) 2014 video: Peter Olson - Finnish American woodcarver - YouTube
(3) Picture of his wood shop:
(4) Here I am trying to make his newly made spring pole lathe work:
He lives about 20 minutes from me, so if it ever stops raining, I think I will drive over and have a visit. He has some nice freshly cut white pine lumber for me to buy.

Goodness, a bunch of old grey beards standing around talking about woodworking and tools!
Can I come over next weekend? LOL.
Cool shop!
