Part 2: The first cabinets.

Five days ago I started construction of my new miter bench. It will be constructed primarily of shop grade 3/4” Birch plywood and some left over bass wood for the top supports. My original plan was to build it similar to my last bench which you can see in my shop pictures with the only difference being no bottom shelf since it will have primarily drawers in each cabinet. Part 3: Cabinets are complete.

After a few minor changes to the layout the cabinets are complete. Time to and conect the benches together. Things are moving pretty slow but I’m working with a bad wing. At least its getting done.

Part 4: Drawers complete

So far all the drawers are made and some of the drawer faces installed. I also installed the ducting for the dust collection. The first five drawers were made using Tongue and Dado joints. In order to speed things up a bit I decided to make the rest using a simple Lap joint. I think the hardest part, at least for me, is designing the project then re-designing it, then re-designing the re-design. I’m pretty sure I just stood in front of the bench for at least two days just staring at it ...
