In proper LJ traddition I’ve got a small gloat.

First a score from CraigsList, I finaly got a scroll saw. I’ve been looking for a few months.

It is a heavy son of a gun. The motor runs nice and quiet, it needs a little cleaning and I need to wire in a switch.

I received some tools from my wife’s grandfather’s house as I was helping my Father-in-law clean out his things. No one else in the family wants them. I got some woodworking tools a craftsman plane, some off brand chisels, a marking gauge:

a sliding bevel gauge, shown next to a modern one:

A Brown & Sharpe combination square:

and the big brother 18” with protractor and center finder
April 2010 stuff 028

there is a bunch more tools in the box, several calipers and dividers.

Nice saw, awesome antique tools, would love to see what they can make together.

Great score! Love to see good deals found and old tools going to some one that will use them.

Great haul. Lots of good stuff. I’ve always wondered about how good those type of scrollsaws are. They seem to be widely sought after. Does the table tilt? Also I like the older sliding bevel gauge on the right in the picture best because you can keep the angle locked in and just flip it over to get mirror image angles whereas you can’t do that with the other one.

Yes the table tilts left and right. I got some blades at HD yesterday while picking up a couple other things.

The other thing about the older sliding bevel is the weight. It is not heavy, but there is more heft to it then the orange one.

the older bevel gauge looks like a stanley no. 18. that is the best bevel gauge out there. it holds its angle better than any other gauge going, old or new. that is a hard to find tool.
