Sooooooo…. my daughter wants chickens. We’ve never raised chickens? How hard can it be? First issue will be housing. We have plenty of room, but other than one incredibly antique fencepost (this land was part of a plantation from the 1700’s, probably the last time it had fences), we have no boundaries. Part 2: Work fast, the chicks have landed

I’ve been using every nice day we’ve had, that I can, to work on my chicken coop. I am having so much fun with this! Part of it is being proud of myself for tackling this project, and doing pretty good with it too, and part of it is the crafting part of it. I didn’t simply draw up plans and go to the lumber yard. For one thing, I doubted my ability to precisely follow the plans. I don’t have the skills or the tools to make all the exact-perfect cuts, angles, etc. I nee...

I’m almost done! Well, almost done enough to move the chick-lets into their new home – I have a feeling that I’ll be playing with (ie. decorating and upgrading this) for some time. The future outdoor run and any decor and fancy accessories will come later. This is really coming together well!
