Dust collection hose - 4 replies

I purchased a Clearview dust collector a couple years ago. I have plumbed the shop with 6” PVC and have all the runs done with homemade blast gates where needed. My problem is finding 6” flex hose to attach machines to the pipe. Everyone loves the 4”. Anyone have any sources for this flex pipe?

I’ve been on again off again watching the site. What’s with all the ads. I’m sure this has probably been addressed but I hadn’t seen anything on it. I know you can get ad bloc, but I don’t feel that’s something I want to do.

Spilled paint cabinet - 1 reply

I was bragging about this sight to a friend and telling him of all the incredibly talented woodworkers on this sight. I was sharing with him all the different projects and there designs. One project came to mind, it is a cabinet on legs and on top was a can made out of wood with a paint spill running down the side, all made in wood. Does anyone ...

Link belts??? - 11 replies

I added a link belt to my table saw and plan on putting one on my jointer and possibly some of my other tools. I have seen where some of you have changed the v-pulley to a machined pulley, is that necessary, have I screwed up?

Black paint and oak stain - 7 replies

I was watching “Overhauling” another of my obsessions, old cars and trucks. In one show they were overhauling a 54 Ford truck. The wooden bed was finished by painting first with black paint, wiping off with acetone, and then staining with golden oak. Has anyone tried this before and what were your results? Looked pretty sharp.

Bandsaw Gloat - 16 replies

I saw in a local newspaper of a Woodworkers shop sale that was just around the corner from me. Checked it out today and at first was not impressed as I walked up to a barn that had seen better days and that has a dirt floor. There was table after table of some misc. rotor bits and some hand tools, all what I thought was over priced junk. I found...

I am building a wagon for my daughters wedding. douginaz built a beauty and is where this inspiration comes from. Thanks Doug. HELP Porter Cable router - 4 replies

I bought a PC 7518 with the knowledge that it might need bearings and/or brushes. How do you get the collet retainer off(part on end of shaft) to replace that bearing?Only half of the brushes are contacting the commutator as if the armature wasn’t pressed on all the way, about a1/4”. Can i press it on further? I posted this on a rou...

3 phase converters - 5 replies

I know this has probably been discussed, but this just boggles my mind. I’m looking at getting a lathe that is 3 phase and it needs a 1-3 hp phase converter. This might be the only 3 phase tool that I would buy. (Yeah right) My question is, what’s the difference from a rotary and static converter? And is one better than the other?

Box bottoms - 3 replies

I am starting to get into making boxes, I built a box joint jig and will start off with that type of joint. Then will test my skills with some dovetails. But my question is, what are you using for the bottoms, plywood, hardboard, or solid wood? If solid wood, are you gluing up then planning to say a 1/4”?

PVC 90 degree turns - 8 replies

This part gloat and a question. I won a Clearvue DC on ebay, great price. It came with a good number of fittings. I know you use two 45’s instead of a 90 to make a turn, but how long a pipe in between the 45’s to make the turn? I have 12’ ceilings so I have some room.

I might be able to swing the price of a cyclone. I’ve been looking at the Griz 2hp, problem is I’ll need to buy the stand and there’s no remote.
