Unsportsmanlike Conduct- Roughing the package

So I ordered a new dust collector system from Festool. It is expensive as heck but Eagle America gives me a good deal on it plus free shipping. I have been ready all day to open the package and use it first thing today when I got home and what did I find? The dust collector is all banged up and the frame was broken from the rough handling.

I couldn’t believe it. I look again at how it is packed and it is basically in a corrugate box but no styrofoam, or anything to help protect it. I thought that was stupid whoever thought this packaging would work. So now to return it. It’s dissappointing that mail and couriers are rough on packages but more so from the people that ship them when they don’t think that this is going to happen.

ps. I had to think of a catchy title so you would read thru my rant. I hope you don’t hold that against me

Bonus points for the cool title – did indeed draw me in!

Had a similar experience with a Delta dust collector I ordered thru Rocker. The box was the original packaging from Delta, and it looked like it was kicked all the way here. The motor housing was bent all to [email protected]## and altho it didn’t cost a mint, I returned it as it wasn’t worth it to me to keep damaged goods.

Ended up getting their wall mount dust collector instead. This one arrived in much better shape and is kicking butt sucking dust.

I have no doubt that Festool products are of great quality and are very well designed tools. However, I feel that their products are grossly overpriced. At the prices they charge for their products, the least they could do is to properly package the items to help to protect them in the real world of shipping.
