I am in the process of building two baptismal fonts. One for a chapel for the Presbyterian Center in Louisville and one for my local congregation. Part 2: Learning the three-way half lap joint

One of the key design features of this project is the three-way half lap joint, a joint I learned here on Lumberjocks. I’ve been practicing making them on scrap. After making my 120° sled, I started out on my own. I just tried to figure out the cuts on my own. The result wasn’t terrible, but it was clearly not the best method. Part 3: Finishing all the required models and templates

Because of the unusual nature of the is project, I am spending more time than usual at the beginning with models and templates. It took a few days, but i got the bowl model to the right shape, adding joint compound and sanding it off three times until the shape fit the template. I got out of my blogging groove on these project. Due mainly to a heavy travel schedule, it’s taken me long time to get them both done. I finished the first one about 4 weeks ago and an have the second just about done.
