Part 1: Garage Partition

03-29-2016 08:28 AM by Cathie Zimmerman | 7 comments »

I have a two car garage. I need to get the measurements but basically one half belongs to my boat, camping gear, fishing gear and a few storage racks for miscellaneous gear. For now my shop is in the other half plus a little 4’x6’ that the previous owner remodeled to take away from the room we call the office and reappropriate the space to the garage. It’s a cool lil space for a Kobalt tool bench and some floor cabinets on wheels that houses all kinds of paint for now. Anyw...

Part 2: Sharing the Garage

It’s all starting to take shape: a clearly defined work area has now been established in the garage. It’s a clear improvement for sure. I can’t wait to get up the French cleat system I’ve been thinking about. I need a place to put all my power tools. I also can’t wait to build a board rack on the wall!! Here’s an update of what’s going on. It’s fun to write about these things because you never know who is going to give good feed back, or what advice really hits home. So, thanks to y’all that read these. I read yalls too! And… WOW are there some beautiful projects out there. French Cleat: Inspired by watching April Wilkerson on YouTube. This has been a real confidence builder. Since I’ve always loved technology and heard of sketch up from a random You...

Part 5: Lumber Rack Complete - Tool Additions

05-04-2016 09:03 AM by Cathie Zimmerman | 0 comments »

I’m happy to report the lumber rack is complete. It’s smaller than I drew up, but I found that just two rows fits what I need for now. Those pics are in the updates I put in my workshop section. I’m beyond happy to have finally finished that part of the organizational undertaking. No more tripping on wood. Now to building the sheet goods rack? To be determined I suppose. I’m just excited to get back to the kids table and chairs I was working on before I got tired of t...
