Mid thirty year old guy living in the south originally from Delaware. This makes me what some down this way call a damn yankee not just a normal yankee lol. After being taught the basics in high school I always had a passion for woodworking, about 10 years ago I had the opportunity to become an apprentice at a local cabinet shop owned by my now friend and mentor. Well after getting tired of working for other men beside him at other local shops ( I moved outta the area we were in because of the wife’s occupation) I decided why not open my own thing. Well that was six months ago and lemme tell you, now I know why people work for other people haha. At my 1900sf shop I’m the one man dream team, from design to sales, layout to cutout to builder to finisher to installer to etc etc one man crew. Just cannot find anyone in the area that wants to show up to work everyday and knows what they say they can do. If I ask you to go over to MY table saw and cut a board at lets say 10 1/2” slightly heavy and you run over and don’t check my saw first to make sure it’s square........ your out the door. I have no patience for slovenly behavior in my shop, that’s how people end up missing fingers. Well I hope y’all can shed some light and help me think through some things as I’ll be quick to offer my help even is I’m not asked.
Be well and go make some sawdust
