I took a short video clip of a new run of 8/4 African Black Limba running though “Old Ironsides” (my nickname for the vintage Newman Whitney industrial planer in the clip – it’s a behemoth but a workhorse).

Bringing in Black Limba is a roll of the dice because there is “no standard for ””Black” or “White color”. In other words, if bad colors show up, there’s often little recourse because it’s subjective. A common problem is off-color white limba being marketed as black and vice versa. There are markets for wild color black and blond white but the boards that are somewhere in the middle exist in a marketing purgatory.

Fortunately, this shipment had some of the best color we’ve ever seen – wild and streaking, nothing boring or uniform.

Enjoy!
