Where can I find this? (Part for venting outside) - 14 replies

I have a Jet DC-1900 dust collector and I’m thinking about venting it outside but I would need a flange to replace the metal Y that goes to the bags with a pipe to go outside. Basically a rectangle flange that transitions to a four inch round pipe. Any idea where I can buy something like that?

Drum Sander for Cheap and I can't buy it!!! - 1 reply

This is killing me. My sister lives about a mile from this auction but has no way to pick it up for me. I live across the country so I just have to sadly watch this go to someone else. So if you want a really good drum sander for cheap, here you go. It only needs a $50 conveyor belt. Jet 16-32 for cheap

Stanley #5 with a knick in the iron - 30 replies

I’m having trouble with my #5. I’m very new to hand planes and I’m not sure how to repair the iron so that I can sharpen it when it has a knick out of the end of the iron. Any help would be appreciated.

Mancala Board? - 17 replies

I want to make a Mancala board game but the holes are generally 2” concave cuts into the board. The best price I can find on a round nose router bit big enough to do the job is $55. Any other ideas on how to make a concave half circle in wood that is 2” in diameter?

Home made disc sander project - 3 replies

Well I took the first major step towards getting this done. I bought a Dayton motor off of CL today for $25. 3/4hp 1725 rpm. That should be plenty of power without going over. The guy said he got it at a parts auction and it may not have ever been used. It sure looks pristine. Now to rig up some sort of sanding wheel attachment once my foot heal...

Checking a Jet jj6cs for coplaner - 9 replies

So I’m trying to figure out how to do this and I watched the TWW video about it. Not sure if the Jet jointer I have can be adjusted the same way and if I need to spring for one of those ultra flat Lee Valley straight edges? Any suggestions?

Motor upgrade for table saw? - 12 replies

Has anyone ever attempted to do this? I’ve seen 3-5hp motors for sale on Craigslist here and there and wondered if it would be feasible to swap it into my r4511 for more power. Just curious, not seriously considering it

I'm tempted to buy this just for the fence and give the saw away for free - 11 replies

He offered to sell me both table saws for $200 but I don’t want the scrap metal I just want the delta fence. It’s better than the one I have on my R4511 as it sits now. I offered him $50 for the fence and rails but no dice. Would it be worth it to offer him $100 for the saw and then just remove the fence and put it on the curb for...

Kids table finish from the wood whisperer - 5 replies

Marc recently did a kids table project in which he finished it with a sprayed lacquer that had white pigment in it. I have been trying and failing to find a finish like that that would hold up over time. I’ve been painting baseboards and doors with latex paint and trying to cover them with poly which of course gives the white paint a lov...

Electric motor question - 14 replies

I want to create this http://tfworkshop.blogspot.com/2015/09/diy-disc-sander.html but I don’t know much about how the shafts work on electric motors. If I can’t find one that was originally used for a radial arm saw then the shaft won’t be threaded as a 5/8 arbor. So is there a way to do this with any random electric motor I ...

So I might need a new table saw - UPDATE - 14 replies

I have the ridgid 4511 and when I bought it we broke the blade raising gear loading it into the truck. So for years I used a pair of vice grips to turn what was left of the gear to make it work. Then I found the part I needed on the internet so I bought it and replaced it but ever since then it has been very stiff when I turn it. Well today I us...

Giving myself a headache over DC Filters - 31 replies

I’m planning to buy the HF DC as soon as I get the money together and it goes on sale again so I’m researching canister filters to replace the bag. I have been all over the internet and it’s driving me crazy. I want something that will fit this DC and give me a minimum of 99.9% but I don’t want to pay $100. Someone sug...

So what tool do you want next? - 58 replies

No matter what, there is always a tool that we want next, even if it’s an upgrade of a tool we already have. What is next on your radar? For me, I need a dust collector. I’ve had enough of the allergy attacks from the dust in my shop. (in the mean time I need to be a good boy and wear my mask)
