Spalted maple moisture - resawing

Following the advice received about potentially non- uniform moisture content throughout a piece of wood, I resawed 2 “chunks” of the maple that I had brought into the garage a couple of weeks ago. After “tuning up” my portacable bandsaw with a 4 tpi blade from the big box, I did a test cut on a piece of red oak, clamped a piece of oak as a fence and started. Quite a few saw marks but uniform within .030” in thickness on the 8” x4” sample piece. Followed with the maple. Sawn to 5/8 and planed to a strong 1/2. Before I started, measured the Mc on the outside and ends reading 9-10%. After resawing I measured internal moisture reading 13-14% . We’ll see what they look...
