« Part 3: Drawers and top rough in Part 4 of Gum Entry Table series Part 5: First finish coat »

Drawers fit, shelves cut and arc applied.

I managed to introduce a very slight bow in the front (not noticeable nor something I will worry about – more of a mathematical issue). It DID put the drawer slides at a very slight angle that made fitting the drawers a real challenge. But done. I made some shims for the slides and planed them until things were right. Amazing what two degrees will do.

Liking where this piece is going, but ready to be done at this point. This stuff has grain that turns and dives while swirling around!

My only decision now is to put a rounded edge on the top and shelves that match the arches or now…I think the flat edge provides some balance. Who knows…only way to know for certain is to round one over and see.

Also, it was like one of those bar puzzles getting the shelves in…I was about to rip them then glue them up inside when I figured it out.

I think so, but I have been tempted to test some scraps to see what happens so I can determine if I want to put a slight warming stain on it.

I like the top with the flat (eased) edges. It goes with the legs also.
Going to look good!

I am putting epoxy in all the knot holes, so while I fiddle with that I am going to do a mock up of stain options…just to see how it reacts and if it needs it.

Have your say...
