Hi everyone,
I’ve loved the woods and nature forever and have always loved what nature creates. My mother used to do woodwork making different things from patterns but no real major skills needed. I have also always admired the beauty of hand made wooden pieces.
Those were my first inspirations for my interest in woodwork of any type. Recently, and as a kid I used to mess around with knives and wood. So I looked up whittling, then saw wood carving and more.
I am currently learning to carve wood using knives, and a dremel. I want to also use chisels and gouges but not sure my budget could handle it.
I am currently working on wood scraps from 2×4s to branches from outside. Anything. The only tree parts I’ll take are the ones already on the ground or clearly separated from the tree

I admire your spirit. I have 2 carved pieces I acquired from a blind carver in Colombia. An armadillo and a letter opener. They feel good in my hand. On most things I make I am trying to please the eye, pleasing the hand is at a higher level. Keep it up.
I recently saw a blind woodturner on tv. He is amazing. http://blindwoodturner.com/

Thank you.
I am Legally Blind. 20/400 with correction. Basically what someone with 20/20 sees at 400 feet it would take me 20 feet to see the same object in the same way. I am also VERY nearsighted which has its good and bad parts. I can read the smallest print on a over the counter med bottle. But can’t read a book with regular print for more than 5 minutes lol.
Working with a dremel type tool can also be QUITE an adventure too! I do what I need and I love what I do. That’s all that needs to be.
