no previous part Part 1 of Spalted Turnings series no next part

I went to a firewood supplier and asked the owner if he had any burls, knots or branched pieces. He said to look around. I found a few likely pieces of Live Oak and Pecan. The one piece of Live Oak that I turned was infested with termites but the wood came out beautifully figured. I have it soaking in a bucket of mineral oil to be sure any remaining termites are “kaput”. I will post this one later when it is finished.
The piece of spalted Pecan was also beautifully figured and is still on my lathe as still more work is needed to finish it. However I’m quite thrilled with the markings and cant wait to show it off so here it is!!spalted, pecan":spalted, pecan

Wow! That is an amazing piece of wood. I can’t wait to see the final product.

I like the Pecan work. I never thought of going to all of the wood suppliers we have here in Jax. Good idea, always like a good idea on where to go to find some different pieces.
