Replacement Brace Jaws - 6 replies

I have two braces, one is a Miller’s Falls I picked up on Craigslist and has been hanging on the wall for a while as decoration and the other was my late grandfather’s and was recently given to me. I have recently gotten much more interested in using hand tools so I was planning to restore them and get them in good working order. The...

Miter saw issues - 5 replies

Hi, I have a miter saw that has been having some issues. The first issue is that it sticks in the top most position. I usually have to pull pretty hard to break it loose then I can start the motor and it works as expected. The title pretty much says it all. I have the opportunity to buy a Cummins MCS1000 4 speed lathe and chisel set (cheap) for $100 obo. I know its not a Jet or Grizzly but would it be an acceptable lathe to learn on? I have a bunch of oak branches and logs from a fallen tree to practice on. thanks in advance! Brandon

Would you try this project with minimal tools? - 20 replies

Hi, first of all, if this does not really fit in this forum, mods please move it… So my coworker asked if I could make 2 duplicates of this Butler Valet Stand. There are a few places that cause me concern. 1) I do not have a band saw so I am not sure how I could shape the actual coat hanger. Also, the only sander I have is a rand...
