« Part 5: It is time.....FINALLY! Part 6 of Woodshop/Garage Build series Part 7: Walls and Windows and a roof... Oh my! »

After a long weekend of good labor in the sun, things are starting to come together. The walls are being built and sheeted (window and door openings are under the ply). I underestimated the time involved to build the walls, but I was doing everything myself. Walls consist of 2×6 studs set on 16in centers. Two windows are 3’wx5’h single hung and four picture windows 6’wx2’h and two 36” exterior entry doors. I strayed from the original plans a little by swapping out the single hung windows for picture windows as I like the thought of a little extra privacy and placing windows higher up in the wall so I can have more useable space on the wall to work or for tool placement underneath. Window bottoms will be set around 7 foot off concrete.

So far I am on par to set walls and trusses this coming Friday. Hopefully the next post will be an erected building.

I’m always extremely envious over these shop builds. One of these days that will be me. Keep up the great work as I follow along with interest.
