Rubbing out a WB poly Finish to Satin - 4 replies

Anybody use 4 aught steel wool to rub out a water based poly finish and have any issues? I am reluctant to use steel, but synthetic abrasive are, well, synthetic abrasives.. The finish is well cured, will rubbing that surface to Satin with lube and water… Any rust issues?? How is the ET way to clean up the surface when done??
