So a couple weeks ago I pulled my trusty old craftsman tablesaw out from winter storage to give it a tune-up, check the alignment and such. It is stored in the back of my carport, which is covered and has a small shed, but there are critters that get in there, and the temperature changes and humidity can cause rust. Uh-oh, the tilt wheel would not tilt the arbor assembly. So I did what every self-respecting lumberjock has done with their Craftsman tablesaw and proceeded to pull it apart. R...

Part 2: New Fence is installed and aligned

Sorry, no pictures today. I’ll get some when the saw is in a better location for pics, maybe once I get the stand built up. I was able to get the Shop Fox W1410 fence installed, and what a difference it makes over the stock fence. It took me about three hours over three days after getting home from work. . or maybe 4 hours, I lost track of time. I don’t recommend this order of operations. If I had followed the instructionsa little more closely, I would not have 2 extra holes...

Part 3: Progress has been made

Update – With Pictures! So I ran into a problem with the original Shop Fox fence I ordered. No matter what I did to try and get it aligned it was toed into the blade. I called up technical support at Grizzly (after waiting on hold for about 30 minutes) they issued an RMA and exchanged the whole unit no questions asked. Once I get some hands-on time with this fence I’ll post a review of my initial impressions. . but it is definitely an upgrade to the original crappy fence tha...

Part 4: It's alive!

It still needs some work, but I was able to roll it outside and make a couple test cuts (a new shelf for my shop cabinet, and a board for the stand needed to be shaved just a bit. The Shop fox fence is nice, I originally had not planned on replacing the fence, but the opportunity presented itself in the form of a (clearance?) sale on Grizzly for the fence. I did have to exchange the first one I received as it would not align properly, even after calling tech support (which was very helpful...
