My name is Anthony, and I’m from the north part of Mississippi. I’ve built things with wood ever since I can remember, in a basic sort of way….. think circular saw, hammer and nails. The first project I remember, was a quarter pipe ramp, that a friend and I built when I was a teenage skateboarder back in the 80’s.

I got more interested in woodworking a few years ago after deciding that I needed to spend less time on my motorcycle, and more time at home with my wife and two sons. I started watching all the great woodworking Youtubers, which taught me a LOT I didn’t really understand about the different types of wood, different cutting methods, joinery, etc.

I started out repairing antique furniture that my wife would acquire to sell in her antique store booth. I was also making pallet wood decor at her request. Unfortunately, she passed away two years ago, and it’s just me and my two boys now. Since then, my time in the shop has been sporadic, as I’ve had to learn a lot about keeping up a household. I’m doing the best I know how to do in raising young men, and I hope they will pick up woodworking as well. My youngest loves the shop, especially cutting out things on the scroll saw.

As much as I would love to contribute ideas and experiences on Lumberjocks, I’m probably more suited to read and learn. I appreciate the great resource this community is to woodworkers everywhere.

Like you, I myself am not that experienced, and mostly read and and learn.
This is an excellent place for that. there are so many extremely talented people here that are more that willing to share their knowledge and wisdom. Great people!

Best of luck, and Welcome
