« Part 1: Rough Shaping Part 2 of Wooden Shackles series Part 3: Production and Practice »

A few days work and some playing i got some interesting designs for my shackles so far, the next batch I will push the designs a bit further and try to incorporate more detail work. These are just from 2×4 and 2×6 pine lumber from Home Depot so they’re really soft and somewhat hard to work with for this.

I’m still new to woodworking so I’m making lots of mistakes, this keeps me confident that I will improve and so will my work over time. The shackles I have done so far I’m staining in fun colors and coating with sealer … still a TON to learn there! All the shackles will close with rope so no fear of losing keys to locks or having hinges give out. I’l get pictures of the pins that keep them lined up in the next entry.

I have plenty more ready made blanks to practice with so I think this will be an ongoing practice project for me.
