no previous part Part 1 of Blanket Chest series Part 2: ARGGGG!!!! crack split in glued up panel »

I’m pretty sure im going to build a blanket chest for my wife for our second anniversary (holds the cotton!). I’m still in the design phase, and got this far with Sketchup.

I have not filled in all the joinery, and dont plan to since there’s no need: The carcass will be assembled with loose tenons, so all parts will be milled to dimension and the joinery will follow easily enough. The top will be breadboarded. Most tenons will be doweled more for accent than strength. The bottom will be shiplapped or T&G. Possibly cedar. I do plan on paneling the inside with thin closet-type cedar as well. Overall I’ll leave it fairly simple, with a roundover on edges (radius depending on proportions) in a G&G/Maloof simple style. Finally, the finish will be oil/varnish blend.

Any suggestions or comments will be very welcome!

Looks like a good design.
