03/05/2012 -I found this Bench on the Internet that really interested me. So I decided to Make it. I got some Curly Maple for the Seat and some Jatoba for the legs and beams. I started on it last week and got the Maple seat glue up, its 14 inches wide and 50 inches long. I plane it 3/4 inch, it is such beautiful wood.
Next I plane the beams to the same thickness, they started out as 15/16’s and what I didn’t realize was when I went to make the Tenon, I sized it to 3/8’s not good because know I don’t have enough meat to make the pins, they would end up being on 1/4 thick and that is way to thin in my opinion.
So I decided to just do a thru mortise and tenon and double Key the Tenon with Wenge, I think this will look pretty good. I am also going to style the legs, I am thinking half round with a Spoke Shaver.
