987Ron's Workshop

, Ga
United States

The shop is a two car garage with a single car door and 2 pedestrian doors. One door to the outside and one to the automobile garage When the house was built I had this area insulated, its own electrical panel with both 110 and 220. The builder had some AC heat units and one was installed in one wall. The 110 outlets are all had switch level height every 3 ft. The 220 outlets every 6-9 ft depending on the wall. The floor is flat concrete covered with an epoxy finish. After 12 years it has worked well. I built all my cabinets and tool supports.
The dust collector is assigned to one corner and has a sound insulated housing around it with filters for the exhausted air into the shop.

Thanks for the comments. I often remind myself that my Dad used a small corner of a garage, with a little gas stove for heat in the winter and a fan in the summer. He built over 100 fine violins (or fiddles if they went to a country music musician), 20 plus violas, and others instruments. The shop makes it easier but the its what one does with the tools and space at hand that matters. I have a ways to go to be the craftsman Dad was.
I remember smelling the hide glue pot heating on the corner of his work bench, 2 ft x 4 ft. Good memories.
