So… I’m home sick today. Been sick ALL weekend and haven’t been able to do anything in my shop. So I’ve been spending my time on YouTube watching videos and on LJ’s. I decided to google “french cleats” to get some ideas. I’m going to be redoing my shop soon. It’s not set up the way I want it to and I think I can do it better.

Anyhow… I stumble across a pic that looked a lot like a sketchup drawing I had made. The more I looked at it… it was MY drawing. When I clicked on the pic to see where it took me… sure enough it linked back to a forum I posted here on LJ’s. Cool. So I kept scrolling through and then I see a picture of my shop. Again I click on it thinking it will take me to LJ’s….. NOPE! It took me to a blog called Crafty Boxes. Has anyone heard of this? It was my forum post word for word and no mention that it was from LJ’s. I looked around it for a brief second. Is this a site that is in conjunction with LJ’s? I found something mentioning Lumberjocks RSS feed. Does it post every forum and project that gets posted here? Just curious. I just thought it was weird.

Never heard of it. Hope we don’t have another “Teds Woodworking” on the rise.

Hi Angie. hope you feel better soon. Drink good whiskey!

I have never heard of the RSS feed from LJ’s. Did it even give you credit as your post anywhere?
It might be a worm in the site that can pick up certain items of interest to another site!!

Ask Martin!

Cheers, Jim

Look at the bottom of that page. Where it says “My Stampin closet”.... click that and it takes you to your profile. Appears to be something you did back in 2010.

Any of this sound familiar? LOL

OMG, mystery solved! I found another one, My Cricut Closet, that you may want to look at, and possibly edit. Best wishes, Angie!

It looks like that entire website links back to Lumber jocks. What’s up with that? They have thousands of LJ projects on there going back to 2012 and forward to present. The site shows 4135 projects for 2013, every one that I clicked was an LJ project.

Angie, I clicked on several of the many links on the left hand side from that site and they all derive from Lumberjocks hmm…....

Someone is using LJ to garner clicks. They use the RSS feeds to automate it. When someone clicks, a faerie loses it’s wings.

DON’T CLICK! Every click gets them pennies for page views.

Or it’s the NSA. Drones.

You read my mind Angie, I ran into those too, and was wondering if anybody else had come across them…
There is a Crafty Boxes on Flickr and one on Twitter as well…
I traced them back to here, a company in the U.K.
There is no mention that I found of LJ’s on their site… but I’d hate to think that they’re using LJ work as part of their portfolio…
Not Cool…

Oooo, I’m glad it wasn’t a trip out here that got you sick! I’m hoping you feel better soon!

I love french cleat system. You’ll see it in surprising places around my shop. If you study my shop page here, you may see some of them. For wall mounting, it’s hard to beat.

One thing I’ve found out is that if the cleat board gets jiggled, it can cause something hanging on it to creep up and eventually fall off. I mounted some on saw horses thinking it would be a good way to put temporary shelves for tools on them, or supplies boxes, but they don’t hold reliably in that application.

I saw in a magazine (I wish I could remember where…Shop Notes maybe??) a similar system but it uses opposing rabbets that work like a slot wall. Mounted like that, jiggling can’t cause it to creep off.

Anyway, food for thought.
