Cedar Bench

I was at the local yard a few months ago and they had a huge piece of rough cut cedar. I took about 6 feet of it and my buddy took the other 12 or so. After wondering what to do with it, I mustered this up. The furnace went out last night and since I took the day off work, I made the best of my time off :-)

The purpose of this bench is for the wife to put her purse, hat, gloves, and whatever else women carry. I dont understand why so much stuff all the time, but she needs to put it somewhere besides the countertop.

I cut the live edge in 2-1/2” in and 2” deep to fit a mortise joint in the top and to make a nice square edge for easier build. I still need to Tung Oil the legs but it’s kinda cold outside in Colorado and the wife has a Preggo Eggo and the fumes just make her grumpy.

Wife likes it, I like it. Mission Accomplished. Woohoo! :-)

Always good to keep the wife happy. Good job.

That’s a great looking piece! Well done buddy.
