Project Information
More updates to our renovation project. This time its the shelving system in the linen closet. After making the attic access door , I needed to make some shelving to match. I couldn't stand to settle for the wire or plastic junk that is sold at the box stores. So this is what I came up with. Cleats mounted to the wall on the back and each side, and plywood for each shelf. The fronts are covered up with 3/4" red oak pieces that were glued/nailed on for added reinforcement. Each shelf is about 38" wide x 16" deep, with distances varying between them to account for best use of space.
On the opposite wall is a small cubby I framed in above the stairs, and is where I was originally going to put the shelves. I instead decided to add an additional clothing bar, and plan to use it for coats/hoodies/jackets/etc. that aren't used very often but still require storage. and just because you can never have too much storage, I put a shelf above that, too.
the hardest part was trying to get decent pictures… the space is tight but I think these get the point across.
The stain is General Finishes "CandleLight" gel stain, and the are coated with 2 coats satin poly.
Thanks for looking, any comments or suggestions welcome!
