I got tired of using my ugly rubber mallet and decided that I needed one to match the furniture I was building. this is made from black walnut and white oak, both of which came from my family farm and were cut over 60 years ago.
I use the standard multiple piece head design with boiled linseed oil to finish it. 17oz and a little smaller then most people’s because I wanted a shorter mallet.
Handle is shaped with a spokeshave.

I’m still using the ugly rubber one. Now I feel inclined to do something about it. Your mallet looks very nice though.
