Project Information

I completed these two nightstands for my granddaughter Kayln. These were built from plans I purchased from Wood Magazine. I purchased the complete bedroom set that included the 8 drawer dresser , a mirror frame , these nightstands and I believe a headboard. I made the eight drawer dresser last year. Eventually I will make the mirror frame that will hang on the wall above the dresser.

I did not take the opportunity to photograph this nightstand in Kayln's bedroom. That chance has past. This photo of the two nightstands in my shop is the only photo I have of the completed set.

I made the 8 drawer dresser with metal drawer slides. It was a nice learning experience , and my first, of hand fitting the drawers to their nightstand drawer pockets.

The original plan like the 8 drawer dresser specified a solid hardwood maple top. I made cherry hardwood tops for these nightstands because that was the hardwood I had on hand.

Thanks, guys. Like sAid "fitting the drawers with my bench planes was a fun learning experience. However, I cannot see me ever making another project with biscuits. The glue went everywhere and there were too many pieces to keep tract of with so much movement with the parts. I would cut dadoes instead for the plywood parts.
