Project Information

I recently built this nursery bookshelf for my son who is due to be born in September. My wife saw a similar shelf while on Pinterest and asked if I'd build one.

All plywood construction with white burlap applied to back for fun texture. I added plate rail grooves to each shelf to prop up picture books. Risers for small board books can be removed in order to make way for novels and textbooks as our little guy grows older. Doesn't hurt to plan ahead, right?

The plywood, paint and glaze are left over from a bench I built for my brother (shameless plug to check out my storage bench). The burlap is from Joann Fabrics.

Good job. That will be around for a long time. I have a bookcase here in the office I made it before my daughter was born. Wife used it for diaper storage next to the crib…25 years ago. I am going to respray the clear finish coat so she can use it in her daughter's room (2 yr old).

Makin' memories, we are.

Ethan,

It looks like you're ready for starting Luke's education! Dad and Mom will be spending some good times together reading to him and before long, he'll be reading to you!

The burlap was a very unique idea to incorporate into the bookshelf. Thanks for sharing.
