Here is a clay model I've been working on, I just have the hands , mallet, & gouge left. This model is man carving himself out of a tree, I call it Determination The clay is 36"tall. Next I'll be carving him out of basswood. Thank you for looking.

You do good work. Reminds me of this saying: "a man cannot remake himself without suffering for he is both the marble and the sculpture"- Alexis Carrel

Finally after making the clay model many months ago, I found some spare time to start carving again. This carving is about my woodworking life. With good and bad times, with struggles and success, with blood sweet and tears. My brother Dan Zongker and I have battled many storms and enjoyed sunny days for over 30 years now.
This carving I call "Determination", and what better way to show this, then to have a man carving himself out of a tree. The next step is hand carving with chisel & mallet, which I love the most. Thank you for looking!!!

Here are some pictures carving in proportions of the back, head, face, chest. I will not carve in any details until all the landmarks are in the correct size and location. I think at this step it can be harder than carving in the small details. Next I will start on the full upper body, like the shoulders, stomach, chest, hair, and the arms. Once I have everything sized in proportion then I can start to detail. Thank you for looking, and happy woodworking!!!

Here are a few step pictures of a carving I've been working on for a while now, but I've only been able to work on it for just a few hours a week on my spare time. My next steps I will be detail carving in the eyes and hair. Thank you for looking!!!

Here are a few pictures of me carving in the details of the Tree trunk, Stone base, Hair, and the face. My next step is to carve the forearms, hands, chisel and mallet. After I'm completed with all the carving then I will sand and finish. I'm getting excited the closer I get to completion. Thank you for looking.

Coming along very nicely Dennis. You have amazing talent and patience. I'll bet you are enjoying it though. Looks like a lot of fun mixed in with a lot of hard work.
Waiting to see the final reveal!
